Sections of the Scout’s Trail

A new puppy in the house is such a joyous occasion! But without proper training, that adorable pup can quickly turn into the terror of the house. Don’t wait for bad habits to develop—start training your puppy now while they’re most receptive to learning.

Our Pup Scout level of the Trail lays a strong foundation for your puppy’s future behavior. Our comprehensive program includes introductions to the following:

Attention and Focus directed to leadership
Impulse Control (no jumping or snatching food!)
Socialization with other dogs and people
Basic manners
Potty training
Beginner level leash training
Introduction to all essential commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and place

Set your puppy up for success by enrolling them in 2 weeks of Lil’ Scouts, ensuring a well-behaved companion for life!

An essential next level of training for dogs of all ages past the puppy stage. It reinforces and instills in them the basics they learned as a pup. Plus introduces them to the manners and behaviors that are expected of a model dog citizen.

In this course, your dog will be asked to follow commands immediately and even amidst various distractions. We’ll also focus on managing your dog’s impulsive reactions to triggers from a distance.

In this level, we include:

Enhanced Attention and Focus: Strengthening your dog’s ability to follow commands with consistency.
Impulse Control: Teaching your dog to manage reactions to distractions and triggers, such as not jumping or grabbing food.
Advanced Socialization: Encouraging positive interactions with other dogs and people on/off the leash. Including some trips to the dog park!
Intermediate Manners: Polishing basic etiquette to enhance your dog’s behavior at home and in public.
Consistent Potty Training: Reinforcing good habits to ensure your dog remains reliably house-trained.
Leash Training: Introducing more advanced leash skills for better control during walks.
Command Mastery: Ensuring proficiency in essential commands like sit, down, stay, come, and place, even in challenging situations.

The “Buddy Scout” section of the Trail is all about instilling the essential skills and behaviors needed to be an obedient and well-mannered dog in today’s world.

Having mastered the basics, your dog is ready for more advanced obedience and behavior training. Our Shadow Scout level is designed for those who want their dog to excel in higher-level skills and commands, making them a truly exceptional companion. During the initial consult, you and the trainer can identify specific areas of behavior and obedience that you want to improve on.

In the Shadow Scout level of the Trail, we include:

4 Field Trips! Examples: ride in the trainer’s car to a hardware store, pet store, or public park. Ensuring your dog can maintain concentration in increasingly complex environments. They’ll earn the “Explorer” Merit Badge.
Refined Impulse Control: Perfecting your dog’s ability to resist distractions and stay calm under pressure.
Sophisticated Socialization: Enhancing your dog’s interactions to ensure they are polite and well-mannered in all settings.
Polished Manners: Elevating your dog’s behavior to the highest standard, both at home and in public.
Consistent Command Execution: Achieving flawless performance of all essential commands such as sit, down, stay, come, place, and heel, even from a distance or amidst distractions.
